Product Description
The Tropf-Blumat Maxi acts as a regulator and dripper, just like the standard Tropf-Blumat, however, it is 9 inches long in total and has an insertion depth of 6 to 7 inches. Therefore, it's application makes sense only above a container height of 12 inches or for a planting depth of 12 inches, typical for larger planting tubs and solitary plants in troughs on patios and roof gardens, and also for individual solitary garden shrubs.
The Tropf-Blumat Maxi enables the moisture levels in deeper layers, close to the roots, to be monitored and regulated. Watering occurs more seldom but therefore more intensely - the surface of the tub stays drier.
Before installing the Tropf-Blumat Maxi, a hole is normally predrilled or cored, the clay cone is then inserted and held in place using a mud slurry (instructions included) in order to achieve good soil contact....More Details

How it Operates
The Blumat-Tropf dripper system mainly consists of drip tubing and valve-based sensors. Shaped like carrots, the sensors are simply pressed into the soil alongside your plants. Arrange the drip tubing around the plants so that the roots receive the moisture. Connect the system to a rain barrel or garden spigot.
As the soil dries, the sensor notes the moisture change in the ground. It automatically releases a valve, which forces water into the tubing and waters the plants. Conversely, the sensors note when the soil reaches saturation. In response, the valves close off the water supply.
Why Drip Irrigation?
The Blumat-Tropf system relies on the benefits of drip irrigation. Overwatering a garden leaches nutrients from the ground and breeds microbes that contribute to root rot. In contrast, under-watering the plants leads to stress and widespread dieback.
Drip irrigation puts water directly at the plants’ roots, which reduces evaporation. The Blumat-Tropf sensors precisely control the moisture at the roots. Overwatering and under-watering just aren’t possible because of the simple, mechanical parts that run the system. Your plants will always have the proper amount of moisture with Blumat-Tropf in charge.
Ideal Applications
Purchase the Blumat-Tropf system for nearly any garden size. Start out with the main package, which includes several sensors and drip tubing. As you install the system, analyze where the water is reaching as the soil takes up the moisture.
Customize the installation as you see fit. Extra sensors, hose tees and couplers can always be added to the system. As your garden grows, Blumat-Tropf expands with your watering needs.
